Shopfront Lens
Install Lens, check asking prices and keep the details of your finds together.
Shopfront Lens is your phone companion for thrifting, personal finds and resale research. Check online asking prices from a photo, save item details and add clothing measurements. The main Shopfront web app handles listing preparation and marketplace management.
Install and sign in
- Download Shopfront Lens for iPhone or Shopfront Lens for Android. The store shows availability and compatibility for your device and country.
- Use an existing Shopfront account. If you do not have one, create it on the Shopfront web app first. Account creation and password resets happen on the web.
- Sign in using the same method as your web account: Continue with Google, email and password, or Sign in with Apple on iPhone. If Lens says no account is linked to that sign-in, check the account and method you used on the web.
- Check your workspace and market in Account. These determine the account context and market used for your checks.
Visit the Lens website for an overview. For the main selling dashboard, follow Quick Start.
Make your first price check
- Open Capture in price mode. Allow camera access, or choose a photo from your library.
- Turn on Include tag if you want to photograph a price tag before the item. Capture the tag, then photograph the item clearly in good light. Keep the item in view and avoid busy backgrounds.
- Lens reads useful tag details, such as asking price, currency, brand or size, and applies its best guess. Review or edit these values; a tag reading can be wrong.
- Price checks run in the background while you continue capturing. Open the saved item in Items to see the result, comparable listings and available market information.
- Check that the item, market, condition and currency are relevant before using the result. Edit the item details or take a clearer photo when needed.
Understand the result
The estimate and comparable listings show asking prices, not confirmed sale prices. They cover a sample of similar online listings; coverage varies by item and marketplace. A similarity label describes how closely a listing matches the item, rather than certainty about the price.
Use For me to compare a shop price with the sampled range. Use To resell to explore a possible sale price alongside fees, postage and preparation costs. This is a scenario calculation, not a promise of profit. Listing age, where available, describes how long sampled listings have been online; it does not predict time to sell or sell-through.
Price-check allowance
The Free plan includes 200 free price checks per calendar month with a registered Shopfront account. Paid plans include higher native app allowances. Native app and web allowances are separate and reset on the 1st of each month at midnight in Melbourne. Check your account's current allowance rather than treating a web balance as the app balance.
Measurements do not use your price-check allowance and have no monthly measurement quota. See Billing for the main Shopfront account and plan settings.
Keep the details with the find
In Items, open a find to review its photos, tag price, currency, notes, measurements and price checks. Use Edit details to correct the suggested title, brand, category or condition. Organise related items into collections and filter your library by category, date or source.
You can add or edit the shop or place where you found an item. The map needs saved coordinates to show a pin; an item without coordinates can still appear in your library.
Add clothing measurements
Choose measurement mode from Capture, or Add measurements on an item. Lay the garment on a flat surface with enough surrounding texture and good light. On supported devices, camera-assisted measurement helps place dimensions on the photo. Follow the surface guidance, check the points and adjust them before saving.
You can also enter measurements taken with a tape. Use manual entry when camera measurement is unavailable, the surface cannot be tracked, or a dimension follows a curve or includes depth. Choose centimetres or inches, review the labels and export a JPG or PNG when you need a measurement image. Colours, lines, labels, fonts and branding can be customised and saved as a style.
Camera estimates depend on the device, surface and item position. Check fit-critical dimensions with a tape; measurements do not guarantee fit.
Share an item or place
Open the sharing preview and choose the photos and optional prices to include. An individual item's location starts off and is included only if you select it. Sharing a saved place includes that place's location; check the preview before sending, especially for a private address. Private notes and your intended selling price are excluded from the shared message.
Your phone's share menu lets you choose an available destination. Your friend receives a snapshot of the selected details, rather than access to your library. Availability and prices may have changed since you saved the item. Sharing does not create a backup or sync another phone.
Prepare a Shopfront listing draft
If listing generation is available for your Shopfront workspace and plan, choose Create listing on an item, or select items in your library or collection. Each selected item becomes a draft with its original photos and saved measurement images. A price check is optional. Listing generation uses the workspace's listing allowance and billing checks; review your plan in Shopfront before starting.
Open the draft in Shopfront to review and edit it before publishing. Saving an item in Lens or creating a draft does not publish a marketplace listing. Later edits in Lens stay local; use Open listing to edit an existing Shopfront draft. Deleting a local item does not delete a draft already created in Shopfront.
For the dashboard workflow, see AI Listing Generation and Workflows.
Privacy and saved data
Items, places, collections and saved measurement styles are stored on this device. They are not automatically backed up or synced between phones. Signing out clears local saved data. Export or share details you want to keep before signing out or removing the app.
Photo price checks use the Shopfront server. Server-side check records and their uploaded check photos have a 90-day retention window; this is separate from your device library and does not back it up. Deleting an item also requests deletion of its linked server price checks. Signing out clears local saved data but is not a server-check deletion request. Drafts you create in Shopfront are separate server records.
Automatic capture location is optional. In Account, use Save capture location to turn it off. With permission, Lens saves location in the foreground when you capture an item; it does not track trips in the background. Turning this off keeps existing saved locations, which you can edit or remove. Photos imported from your library are not assigned your current location. Map providers process map requests.
Read the Privacy Policy for more information.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| No linked account or sign-in failed | Create or recover the account on the Shopfront web app, use the same sign-in method and check your connection. Contact support if access still fails. |
| Camera access is off | Allow camera access in the phone's settings, or choose a photo from your library for a price check. |
| A price check failed or is still processing | Check your connection, reopen the saved item and use the retry action. Review whether your monthly allowance is exhausted. |
| Comparables are missing or unsuitable | Check the market and item details, then try a clearer photo. Coverage varies; do not treat a small or unrelated sample as a reliable valuation. |
| Camera measurement is unavailable or cannot track the surface | Improve lighting and surrounding surface texture, or enter tape measurements manually. |
| An item does not appear on the map | Check that it has coordinates. Add or edit the saved place details. Location permission is optional. |
| A listing cannot be prepared or opened | Check the selected workspace, connection and billing/allowance in Shopfront. Retry from the saved item to resume. |
| A shared photo is unavailable | Review the selected photos in the preview, or share text only. The destination app must support the selected files. |
Contact contact@shopfront.app with your phone model, operating system, the build information at the bottom of Account, the action you tried and the error shown. Avoid sending passwords, private locations or other sensitive details in screenshots.
